My paintings are about Woman: body,vessel, and history. Historical aspects that have changed and shaped women into who they are today are of absolute importance in my work. Some shapes are stones that represent stories that are held and stored by our bodies, for our bodies’ record our history in depth. Some shapes are seed pods that are vessels that give life, protect life and transport life and sometimes end life. Each Woman/Story is inspired by a particular female archetype. These women embody effeminate issues such as; saint/ whore, lover / mother, healer / defender and creator / destroyer. We are complex creatures combining many dualities.
